Zen Shorts

We just finished up a unit on China and ended with this cute book, Zen Shorts* (although we learned from the book that Zen is more Japanese than Chinese). For their art project, they copied the cover of the book using crayons and water colors. (I stole this idea from Erin's blog where she did it a long time ago).

*The last "short" was especially applicable in our family. It was about two men walking and the first stops to help a grumpy, ungrateful lady cross a puddle. Much later on their walk, the 2nd man is still upset that the woman didn't thank the first man who helped her. The first man says, I stopped carrying that woman a long time ago, why haven't you? PS has issues with being angry about stuff for a long time. She'll bring up something that happened two years ago and ask why whatever it did happened the way it did (usually unfairly for her). Hopefully the lesson in this tale sticks with her.
