Sleeping
So I don't forget, Mystery Baby had his best sleeping night ever last night. He ate at 7pm then slept from about 8:30 until about midnight. Ate, went back to sleep and slept until 5:30am. This is huge for him. He typically doesn't go more than 3-4 hours without eating, even during the night. Hence the chubby cheeks. Yet, even with that five hours stretch, I'm still exhausted and feeling totally drugged this morning. The cold fall weather doesn't help.

Mystery Baby
9/6/12
I was trying to do something I saw on Pinterest, but I think I waited too long to get the teeny, sleeping newborn. Oh well. Princess Sparkley enjoyed it. We'll be posting some of her photo shoots with Mystery Baby soon.

Leaving on a Jet Plane
Heading home we flew Burbank to San Francisco to Dulles. Burbank was awesomely empty, no lines for security and both going there and coming home I didn't have to go through the x-ray machine, just a normal metal detector. Score! The Burbank airport has stairs they wheel up to the airplane so you go outside and climb up them. I've always thought that was fun and the kids thought so too. Our plane from Burbank to SF was small so Little Guy and I were on one side of the aisle and Buddy and PS were on the other side (two seats per side). The plane from SF to Dulles was a regular three seats per side of the aisle. This meant the three kids were together and I was across the aisle from them (none of them would sit alone). That was more difficult, and is one of the reasons they got ot watch the inflight movie which was Pirates of the Carribeean 4 (which I normally wouldn't have let them watch). Little Guy fell asleep with his headphones on watching the pirate movie. The first pictures are PS reading in the Burbank airport while we waited for our flight.

Sleeping In
This is what I found when I woke the kids up Monday morning so we could get on the road and head home from Ohio.

Sleepy Little Guy
Little Guy was having a hard time falling to sleep last night (even after a 4 mile hike) and got sent to B's new chair in the corner of our bedroom until he calmed down. This is how we found him later.

Little Guy Sleeps
Little Guy is doing great in his big boy bed. Except for the occasional facing the wrong way (and being attacked by a pant-less Prince Charming). Maybe it's because his pillow matches his blanket.

Little Guy

A few weeks ago, Princess Sparkley and Little Guy came to the mall with my to shop for me summer clothes with my birthday money. Little Guy fell asleep in H&M and started sort of waking up. Then he got his hands all folded together like he was praying and put them under his head like a pillow. So cute!

Asleep, sitting up
We had to go to a playdate on the 24th, so I went to wake Baby X up from his nap. This is what I found. He fell asleep, sitting up, in the corner of his crib, without even his head tipping over or leaning on anything.

Cabin Trek 2009: Day 1
My parents built an A-frame cabin in the mountains above Cedar City, UT in about 1968 when they were living in Las Vegas. It was a bit further away when we were living in southern California during my childhood, but we still visited often. Over the past couple of years my parents and brother have bought land and built a bigger cabin with electricity and running water (the old cabin did not have such luxuries).
We left home Friday, June 26th in the afternoon, stopping at the library in Topeka to stock up on even more books to entertain our kids (mainly to PS since she finishes at least one library book before we've left the library parking lot) on the long drive and the subsequent time at a cabin lacking a TV or internet access.

Here's Princess Sparkley hurrying to finish a book before we return it.
Our first day's drive was not long... about four hours to Hays, KS.

Buddy and PS in their hotel bed.

Baby X did not do so well the first night in a hotel... here he is the next morning asleep in our bed. Luckily this horrible night did not reflect the entire vacation or we might have only lasted a day.

Baby X is getting huge
Before the haircut... it's actually recently combed in this picture, so it's not horrible.
Baby X got a haircut again on Saturday. He needed it desperately, especially as the mercury climbs higher and higher in the thermometer. I sneaked into his room last night to peak on him and was amazed at how huge he looks in general, but especially with the new buzz cut he's sporting. His alligator is even in there with him for comparison. :)
Notes on Baby X: he's been doing awesome with his signs lately. He's been signing: please, more, and all done for awhile now. And he's started signing: bird, car, more, please more (two signs together), and all gone. He pulled "all gone" out of the blue. I use it with him, but have never made him mimic it. I told him "all gone" and he signed it to me. And speaking wise, he'll occasionally say mama or dada... but still not really to us. And he can say "up."

Strange Sleeping Habits
Colds have been going around. Buddy's had a hard time breathing through his nose at night so he stacks every pillow he has under his head at night. I went in the other night and found this... every pillow and a stuffed bear. Doesn't it look uncomfortable!?!
