Smiley
Between 5 and 6 weeks Mystery Baby has been smiling more in response to us than just gas, or smiles as he dreams. He even gave our landlord's wife a huge smile the other day, one of his first. So we've been trying to get him to smile a lot, and trying to capture them.
Hanging out with Daddy playing Angry Birds. Small Smiles. And this week he's become much more dexterous with his hand movements. The top right picture is him with his hands are curled up under his chin(s) while I try to get him to sleep. He also started swinging his hands at toys we put near him. This has the older kids thrilled!
Sleeping. He sleeps best held tight in my arms. The bottom left picture is him in the swing. I have to swaddle the top half of his body so his arms are pinned, but leave the bottom half out so he can get buckled and because it's so hot. Then he squishes his nose up into the left hand side of the swing and will sleep for hours. He also sleeps well in his car seat (bottom right). He does well at night swaddled in his baby burrito. The only problem is the need to eat every 3 hours! Sometimes he'll go 4. He's taken a couple of naps that have lasted a few hours swaddled up in his baby burrito in his crib this week as well.

Faces
Mystery Baby has had some gassy smiles, or some tickle his lips smiles, but last night I was actually able to make him smile just by making silly faces and talking funny to him. It still may have just been gas since I can't get him to repeat it. I'm excited for his smiley face to be part of our every day.
Until then, here are some cute shots of his chubby cheeks.
Go Tigers!
So, the way the soccer games are scheduled for the three kids, I usually miss all or part of one of the big kids' games while I'm at Little Guy's game. Last Saturday, I saw all of Little Guy's, half of Princess Sparkley's, and all of Buddy's. I only remembered to film/photograph at Little Guy's game.

Buddy's Black Eye
Friday night B took the big kids down the street to practice running while Mystery Baby and I took a nap. B noticed Buddy looked like he'd hurt his eye, but Buddy, in true Buddy fashion denied any known injury. When they got home, I confirmed that he had indeed hurt his eye, it was visually obvious, but Buddy denied it. Finally, later the next day Buddy said it maybe could have happened when he fell off the futon and landed on his nose.
In other news, he recently ordered this Barcelona soccer jersey and it arrived in the mail.

Happy One Month!
| 9/17/12 |
I think PS took these close ups when she was holding him. I keep having to remind her not to get so close with the camera.

Myster Baby as Captured by PS
And, having seen this mom's artistic blog (http://milasdaydreams.blogspot.com/),PS created her own scenes, just not always with a napping baby.
Soccer - Game 2
B went to Buddy's game in the AM and we all went later for PS's and LG's games. Little Guy scored a goal. He tells a long story about how he kicked the ball through the legs of a red team player who was standing in front of the goal so the ball went in. He was very excited about it.

First Day of School
5th 3rd Kindergarten
I forgot to take Buddy's first day of school picture until this week. We "started" our school year the day after Labor Day like the rest of Virginia this year. We're still slowly getting into it, having the new baby and all. We decided that since Little Guy can read (he's working his way through Princess Sparkley's first grade phonics books) that we'd start him with Kindergarten this year even though he'd have to wait a year for public school. And even picking out Kindergarten workbooks for him was difficult because he knows all his numbers and letters. He does a great job with school too. He knows when it's "school time" and rather than disappearing every chance he gets like the big kids (especially Buddy) he finds books to read, brings me the workbooks and has me read him the directions, ets. Basically, he's going to teach himself Kindergarten while I'm holding a sleeping newborn whom I can't set down.

Soccer
We signed all three kids up for soccer this year. I failed to get a picture of PS at the first game last Saturday, but here are the boys. Luckily their practices are all at the same location, but Buddy and Little Guy's are at the exact same time so on the days when B can't be there, Princess Sparkley hangs out at Buddy's practice for him while I'm across the giant field at Little Guy's. Until the last game of the season, their games overlap a bit but aren't at the same time so we at least get to see some of each kids' game.
I love the little kid soccer. Little Guy does great, way more agressive than his older siblings. And he's good at following rules and instructions and learning new things. His team is the orange tigers. He was thrilled that last week his team won, 14 to 1. One boy on his team scored all 14 goals.

4 weeks
9/14/12
We have a bunch of family that have Friday birthdays in August and September, so Mystery Baby's milestones keep landing on big dates. Two weeks before he was born were cousin ARM and Great Grandpa Pf's birthdays. A week before he was born was PS's birthday. Then he was born. Two weeks later on a Friday was Grandma L's birthday. Three weeks old was Uncle G's birthday (3 weeks and a day was Grandpa M's birthday). Today would have been both of my grandmas birthdays if they were still living. Next Friday, cousin ARF turns 13 and the following Saturday, cousin ATM turns 3.

Mystery Baby: Three weeks going into Four
He's getting chunky in the cheeks.
Zeebie has been a part of our family since PS was a baby and has always been a hit with our newborns due to his/her strong contrast in colors. The kids were thrilled that Mystery Baby looked at Zeebie and even punched it a few times.
I took this picture and told B, you have a ton of kids.

I was trying to do something I saw on Pinterest, but I think I waited too long to get the teeny, sleeping newborn. Oh well. Princess Sparkley enjoyed it. We'll be posting some of her photo shoots with Mystery Baby soon.
