T-ball

Last year, Buddy showed up to his first day of t-ball practice dressed in Red Sox shorts, jersey and hat, only to find out he was going to be a Yankee.  This year, he showed up in his Yankee shirt and hat from last season, only to find out he's a Red Sox this year!  Too funny.  He's thrilled though since deep down, he's a bigger Red Sox fan.  They're uniforms hadn't come in yet by game one on Saturday, but he had enough Red Sox stuff to make it work.

Red Sox Game

Part of the reason Princess Sparkley's baptism was pushed back to the end of August (her birthday was the 10th) was so that my parents would be in town when the Red Sox played in Baltimore. Grandpa took us to the game last night (9/2) and the Red Sox WON!!! Red Sox 6, Orioles 4.

Grandpa L is a HUGE Red Sox fan. For his birthday (May 5) I took a bunch of pictures of the kids in their Red Sox attire to send him. The first picture is when I did the same thing a few years ago with Buddy and Princess Sparkley.

We did presents in the morning after breakfast.


If you didn't already know, B is really into geography and has always destroyed the rest of us at the license plate game. When we moved to Virginia, B found the official license plate game rules with the official point system, so we've been playing. Buddy loves it. PS got him this license plate game board. This will help Buddy out a lot because he can't always read the state name on a license plate and has to yell out, "Whatever that one is!!"


A Red Sox jersey from Grandma and Grandpa L. (His old one that he's been wearing since he was 2 1/2 is size 4t and will be passed on to Baby X pretty soon).




We got him a Nationals hat among other things. Here he is decked out in his new Red Sox jersey and his Nationals cap. He also owns two Red Sox hats and a Yankee hat and jersey (for t-ball).


He and I worked on this GI Joe puzzle he got at his party. 100 piece puzzles are just about right for me (compared to B's 1000 piece puzzle craziness). So Buddy and I make a good team.


I asked him what he wanted for his cake on his birthday. He wanted brownies and cookies. And a number six candle.

Even with our Wally watching the game, the Red Sox still got swept by the Angels.

Ball Players

I accidentally matched my two boys today. Not on purpose, I got one dressed and then the other and then realized that they sort of matched. So I decided to take some baseball pictures. And Princess Sparkley felt a bit left out, so she went and put on a red shirt to join in on the fun. Here are the results:

For Grandpa L

This was Buddy's outfit today. He woke up this morning and we gave him the news that the Red Sox beat the Angels and will be playing for the American League Championship. He was excited, but a little disappointed because in the National League he was cheering for the White Sox (I think because they are similarly named to the Red Sox). I tried to talk him into the red sweatpants rather than shorts because it was kind of cool and rainy today. But he insisted on wearing the shorts. So I tried to get him to wear just the shorts (it wasn't THAT cold). This is what we ended up with. I shouldn't complain. Yesterday he and Princess Sparkley were dressed like The Incredibles all day in all red clothes and he went to Walmart with me with his shirt and pants both on backwards. And he's been wearing his shirt backwards most days the past week or two. Don't know why. He says it feels funny and he likes it. It's sort of disconcerting because you think you're seeing the front of him because you're seeing the front of his shirt, but then you look up and it's the back of his head. Ahh!

Buddy [hearts] Sports

Buddy loves sports. Not just one. Any sport. When it was hockey season and B was watching the Pittsburgh Penguins play, Buddy became obsessed with hockey, "played" hockey with a stick and ball, and insists that we are next going to move to Pittsburgh so that we can see the Zamboni clean the ice.

During baseball season, it's a baseball and a bat and his Red Sox uniform.

It's also been football, etc. Right now he's way into running and hurdling.

Buddy's Presents

We open family presents on Christmas Eve. Here is Buddy with some of his presents:


On my side of the family the grandkids drew names out of a hat. My 9 month old nephew drew Buddy's name and got him this fun truck/tractor set. As you can tell from the smile, he loves it.


Since Buddy continues to insist upon wearing his Red Sox uniform almost daily (short sleeved shirt and shorts) my parents supplied him with a warmer alternative... a Red Sox jacket. Which he tried to convince us to let him sleep in last night, and he wore it all Christmas day.

He lost his Red Sox hat about a month ago, it was quite devastating, so Grandma and Grandpa L got him a new Red Sox hat for Christmas. This picture is Christmas Eve, Christmas Day while I was taking a nap Princess Sparkley lost a tiny Polly Pocket part next to the couch, Daddy moved the couch to get it and there was Buddy's old Red Sox hat under the couch. The irony. So now he has two, but the new one fits better, and has a little tag in back (that he calls a flag) with red socks on it.

Boy has been a huge Red Sox fan this week. He calls them the Bostons. He's worn his Halloween costume from last year just about every day (except when I finally talked him into letting me wash it). He's slept in it, over top of his PJs every night. And when he wore it to the store the other night with B he made B wear his Red Sox shirt from the 2004 World Series... when they got out of the car he asked B why he didn't have Red Sox pants.


So when the Red Sox won the World Series tonight, Boy was fast asleep in bed. Poor kid. He's missed the end of all the games because they've been too late but each morning asks who won. At least they've been winning each night when he's gone to sleep, and each morning we've been able to tell him that they won. Which results in both kids cheering "Yea, Red Sox!" Followed by a wiggle dance by Boy.
