The Nutcracker

We went to Richmond (a day late) before Christmas to see B's sister's family along with B's parents who drove over from Ohio. One of Aunt H's family traditions is going to see a Christmas play, they were nice to take us with them this year. It was almost A Christmas Carol (which had PS's boots shaking) but it turned out to be The Nutcracker. Princess Sparkley was beside herself with excitement and her excitement rubbed off on Buddy. The play turned out to be a HUGE success. The kids all loved it. Baby X was awesome, he only made two noises through the entire play, once to crack up at Grandpa M who was sitting next to me (Baby X was on my lap) and once he pointed and made an indistinguishable noise when the ballerinas dressed as bunnies entered the stage.

Before the play. Grandma M made PS and cousin G matching dresses.

Thank you to the P family for taking us.

Some ballet moves after the show as Grandpa M carried PS through the slippery sidewalks.

Baby X "Dances"

Baby "dances" in his car seat by kicking his legs wildly. He used to only do this for The Killers song Human and he'd stop whatever he was doing, even if it was crying and throwing a tantrum in the car, so he could start dancing and laughing. Then expanded his favorite song list to their song Spaceman. Now he also dances for some Weezer songs. Here are some clips:

Spaceman

Weezer's Troublemaker

Human

*Sorry, I can rotate it in Picasa but it doesn't rotate in
"My Pictures" and that's from where the videos are uploaded.

Dancing Baby X

I've gotten videos from my new digital camera to upload onto our blog, but I've been trying to upload a video of Baby X "talking" for a couple of weeks now and I can't get it to work. But then this one of him dancing worked... so, maybe I'll try again. Here's Baby X dancing. Grandma and Grandpa M sent a musical card to him that sang "Celebrate Good Times" when you opened it. The older kids loved this and insisted on having a "Celebrate Good Times" party, but wanted the whole song, not just the few lines the cared would keep repeating. So we listened to it on cd (B had it) and we danced. Then we noticed that Baby X was "dancing" as well. What a cutie! And when he stares at the screen... it's just blue. Our dvd player is playing a cd but the screen is blank, yet he's still enthralled by it. :)

Buddy's Train Tracks

Buddy's preschool last week had a talent show. Buddy decided his talent was building train tracks. We tried to talk him into dancing to his favorite song, but he didn't want to. Here he is with the train track he built all on his own(except the 8 by his right foot) this week.

Princess Sparkley: Dancer

For her 5th birthday, Grandma and Grandpa L sent money for Princess Sparkley to take a dance class. This one was called Developing Dancers and was supposed to be a mix of ballet, tumbling and something else... tap? It turned out to be ballet, tumbling and cheerleading. So we now have a five year old who wants to be a cheer leader. Yea. On the last day of class the parents get to come watch. Here are our pictures.

Stretching. Princess Sparkley is four girls up from the bottom. Notice her knees are bent, and thus she isn't really stretching at all.

First position. ?? I really have no idea about dance terms and positions. She knows. I don't.

They break out the pom poms.

Some tumbling.

Cat and Mouse again: IT WAS CUTE

More Cat and Mouse dancing

Cat and Mouse

This was a cute dance where some girls pick to be cats, napping and other girls (in this case, Princess Sparkley and her friend from church, M) choose to be mice. There is cute music playing (sorry my tiny digital camera doesn't record sound) and basically, while the cats nap, the mice play. Very cute.

Fancy Dance Moves

Dance Recital Film

My apologies to those of you who have no desire to watch a 3-5 year old dance class, silent film style. This is mostly for the grandparents.

This first film is Princess Sparkley doing her: Echappés sautés(literally a ripping jump) these are jumps where the legs jump up together, but split apart mid-air and land in second position. Followed by her curtsy.

Princess Sparkley's Dance Class Recital

Princess Sparkley has been in a dance class called "Creative Movement." Today was her last class, the one where the parents get to watch and take pictures.
