Buddy's Noises

Buddy, maybe because the all the delayed speech grunting, is fabulous at vehicular noises. They are a huge part of the everyday noises I hear around the house, they are loud and annoying, and sometimes I think they are real. Here's a sampling:

Bumpy Bus

Awhile ago, Princess Sparkley and Buddy invented these "bumpy bus" rides to give each other. But they are basically the same size, so it didn't always work out. Now they like to convince Little Guy to go on bumpy bus rides, except he thinks they are doggy rides. And Sunday night, all the kids were crazy hyper... here's the proof:

Father's Day/My Birthday Events

B has been drooling over this add he found:

So I made them for us for Father's Day brunch.

And then on to my birthday celebrations:

Sweet Sixteen times two

More Busyness, now at the Fire Station

We happened upon a sign Friday advertising that our neighborhood fire station was having an open house on Saturday. Buddy of course took note of this and added it to the list of 100 things that had to happen on Saturday. We arrived just as a helicopter that had been there flew away. Darn!

Saturday Was a Busy Day

Our Saturday was busy. We started off at a baptism for I, a boy in Princess Sparkley's Primary class who we hear a lot about because he's so funny, etc., etc.

We changed into picnic clothes at the church and headed to a ward/Primary picnic followed by a concert by the Mormon Choir of Washington DC.

At the picnic, there was a "potato" sack race. B and the kids participated.

Buddy is the second kid from the left, PS is next to him talking to her friend A.

Sugar Cookies

This is my new favorite sugar cookie. I used my USA map, California map and palm tree shaped* cookie cutters for this batch since Father's Day was approaching last week when I made them and the dad in our house is all about maps.

Here is the recipe: Soft Sugar Cookie.

*Thanks to Great Grandma M who bought me the California and palm tree cookie cutters several years ago. I think this might be the first time I've used them because as much as I love EATING sugar cookies, I pretty much hate rolling out the dough and cutting them into shapes, etc.

Here are the kids enjoying them.

World Cup

Both of my little boys come running if they hear their dad watching sports clips on the computer. They've been lucky that a lot of the World Cup games have been broadcast on the Internet. Here they are enjoying the US vs. Slovenia game.

What's hilarious is that Buddy's favorite sport to pretend to play is whatever sport he just watched. So right now, he's all about soccer.

Big Sister Dresses Baby Brother Up

Princess Sparkley dressed Little Guy up the other day and snapped a bunch of pictures of him. Can you tell she still wishes he was a baby sister?

Brothers

B and I were discussing the other day how Buddy and Princess Sparkley fight a lot, and Buddy and Little Guy fight a lot, but Princess Sparkley and Little Guy don't fight that often. Poor middle child, he's fighting with someone all the time. Fortunately, Buddy and Little Guy have been getting along great this week.

In these pictures, I don't believe the couch is doubling as a firetruck, but oftentimes, when Buddy sits on it like this, he's using it as his firetruck and he's the driver.
