This Is The Way The Baby Sleeps

This seems like the most uncomfortable place to fall asleep, but all my kids have done it at some point. Here's Baby X:

And because we didn't get a digital camera until just before Buddy was born, all of our Princess Sparkley baby pictures are developed, in an album or a box, and not on the computer. So no pictures of her in a high chair, but here are some of her in some of the weird positions she's fallen asleep in:


When Buddy was born and we moved Princess Sparkley to a big girl bed (age: 2 years) this is how how she fell asleep the first few nights, in her book corner, everything off the shelf, and in this instance, her head UNDER the bed.


This is from before she turned 2. She falls asleep with a book on her face fairly often. I've fallen asleep in a book, and with a book on my chest, but I don't think ever on my face.

Baby X Crawls

Baby X has been crawling quite well this week. He's still slow, but is up on his hands and knees. I tried to capture it on film, but as soon as he saw the camera he wanted to get to it fast, and he's a much faster scooter than crawler right now. So he army crawled over to me. I'll try to get him crawling tomorrow while it's still so slow and tentatively cute.

Usually B transitions from not shaving for a bit, to a beard, to a mustache (ick), to being clean shaven again. When I left for book club Thursday night he had long hair that he was trying to grow into a mullet (he's crazy, I know), but it was getting too hot for his bike helmet with all that hair so he was going to cut it. When I came home from book club, he looked like this. And he left it like this until Friday night. He got some funny looks on the bus and at work.

Buddy [hearts] Sports

Buddy loves sports. Not just one. Any sport. When it was hockey season and B was watching the Pittsburgh Penguins play, Buddy became obsessed with hockey, "played" hockey with a stick and ball, and insists that we are next going to move to Pittsburgh so that we can see the Zamboni clean the ice.

During baseball season, it's a baseball and a bat and his Red Sox uniform.

It's also been football, etc. Right now he's way into running and hurdling.
Here are the hurdles he set up in our living room.

Primary Olympics

Our Primary activity last Saturday was an Olympics combined with one other ward's Primary. I wish I had pictures of some of the events, but I was helping kids flip jumbo marshmallows at a poster of Goliath.

Baby X is growing up

These videos are both from August 15th, but I left one uploading and haven't logged back in to post it. So here they are. Baby X's crawling has improved greatly, I'll have to hook up the webcam and film him later today.

Here's Baby X crawling... I think it's close enough now that it's past scooting and we can count it as crawling. Give him another week and he'll be getting into all sorts of trouble. He already crawls out of his room if I leave. This kid is Trouble!

29 weeks

Weirdo

I checked on the kids in bed the other night, and this is what I found. At first the yellow blanket was over her head as well. And if you can't tell, she has her PJ top pulled over the top of her head like a hood. And the flashlight shoved down her shirt is on. C-R-A-Z-Y. Reminds me a bit of her as my baby.

She slept with a hat on her head when she was 2 1/2 or so so she couldn't hear the crickets outside. Again... Weirdo. I'll have to put all the pictures together of her having fallen asleep with a book on her head/face. Surprisingly, there are a lot of them over the years.

First Day of School

Princess Sparkley will be attending first grade at a "regular" school for Specials (PE, art and music) as well as History and Science. She's excited. Today was her first day and when I picked her up the first thing she said to me was, "I already have friends."

At home, through the virtual school, I will teach her Phonics/Language Arts while B teaches her math.

6 month check-up

Baby X had his 6 month check up today (at nearly 6 1/3 months).

He weighs in at 17 lbs. 4 oz. (40th ish percentile for weight)

He is 2 foot 4 inches tall (90th ish percentile for height)

And his head is 17 1/2 inches around (60th percentile for head circumference).



He's doing great. He's annoyingly wiggly when you are trying to hold him. He doesn't crawl yet, but he's up on his knees rocking and moving his knees a bit. And he scoots. If there is a scrap of paper, a laptop computer, or something else he isn't supposed to have, he'll get there even if it's halfway across the room.

Birthday Celebrations

On Princess Sparkley's birthday, Sunday, we had cake with grandma and grandpa, aunts and uncles and lots of cousins.

Then on Monday, the girls (plus our little family) went to Jilly's Cupcake Bar for cupcakes.

The Magic House: St. Louis Children's Museum

On Monday we went to The Magic House. Our kids have been a couple other times when we've visited Grandma in St. Louis. B had never been and was expecting some sort of lame, magic themed kid attraction. I think it proved him wrong... he just wants them to change their name now to downplay the magic part. The kids and the cousins had a blast. We could have spent all day there... a few hours doesn't cover everything you want to see. AND, they're adding on. It's going to be almost doubled in size in a few months.

River City Rascals

Most of the M family went to a River City Rascals game. It's nice because it's like a real baseball game, but on a smaller scale.

The hot dog beat a taquito and an egg roll in a race. Go hot dog!
