Baby X moves in circle, reaches and tries to scootch

This morning again. See how he moves in a circle.
He's been up on his knees a little bit more every day this week... today I think it qualifies as scootching, not quite yet scooting.

Here's Baby X this morning hanging out on his side. Look how balanced he is!!

Baby X Moves

Here's Baby X moving about. This isn't a great example of it, but he gets in a spot and circles and circles around... sometimes really fast.

This one is kind of long and boring, but there are some good moments. You can see Baby X scoot a tad, hear him blow raspberries, squeal like a pterodactyl and listen to Buddy talk to him in his cute "I'm talking to a baby" voice.

Baby X starts up on his knees, wiggles around, laughs, etc.

On His Side

Baby X likes to lay like this... for a long time. It has to take a lot of balance.

Baby X Eating... All Hands

Baby X eating... he's started trying to "help" by grabbing the spoon.

Buddy At Bat

While B was reading These Happy Golden Years to Princess Sparkley (and Buddy) last night, I noticed Buddy doing this, so caught it with my digital camera without him noticing.

Nephew at Cabela's

My brother's wife's parents live in north central Missouri, so my brother's oldest son flew out to spend a week with them. He flew into Kansas City so we met him at Cabela's in KC, KS real quick. Princess Sparkley didn't get to go because she'd thrown up that morning. She stayed home with B while B cleaned an organized our house. (THANKS!) Buddy was pretty shy. When we moved from California Buddy was almost 18 months old. And we've only all been back once, a year and a half ago. So he's heard of this cousin, and likes the idea of him, but doesn't remember him at all. Baby X gave him lots of smiles and I insisted that my nephew give Baby X all the kisses grandma sent for us.

[What's with the face I'm making?]

24 weeks

I realized this morning that I didn't take Baby X's Alligator picture on Saturday. So, technically this is 24 weeks and 2 days.

Heart Check-up

Baby X had his check-up with his cardiologist today. Here are the stats:
5 1/2 months old
15 lbs. 5.15 oz.
25 3/4 inches tall

His EKG and echo both showed that he's doing as well as his last check-up. I've been worried about how he'll handle having to lay so flat and so still as he gets older. Before he'd eventually fall asleep during the echo (it takes maybe 15-20 minutes). He's getting so strong that he tries to lift his head up and then all his chest muscles are tense, etc. He was okay for his EKG today. It's just a matter of getting all the stickers stuck to his chest and all the cords attached, then it's just a minute or so and it can all come off. The echo is basically like an ultrasound pregnant women get. So I have to shush him and keep his hands of the gel and keep him calm and lying still. He did okay at the beginning. Then he got pretty fussy. I didn't think he was horrible, but when his doctor came in with the results he'd heard about it, so the technician must have mentioned it. It was sort of in a laughing way since he's so tiny and part of the problem is he's so strong and if he doesn't want something to happen, he doesn't want it to happen.

I asked the doctor what the prognosis was for the future since originally he told us that Baby X would have to have the same procedure done again in infancy. He told me today that he highly doubted that he'd have to have the procedure again as a baby, probably again as a toddler or a school aged child. So that's good. I guess they just never know if what they've corrected will continue to grow with him or if it will stay the size they've corrected it at and will have to be corrected again soon.

So, good news. And we don't have to go back for 3 1/2 months.

Recent Conversations

Conversation between Buddy and Mommy:

Buddy: “Do girls have penises too?”

Mommy: “No, that's the difference between boys and girls. A boy has a penis and a girl doesn't.”

Buddy: “Then how do girls go pee pee?”

There is a Chinese Restaurant in town that has a giant panda on its sign. At the auto parts store across the street, Buddy pointed to the Chinese restaurant and said to Princess Sparkley:

Buddy: That's the panda shop.

Daddy: That's not a panda shop.

Buddy: Oh. What is it?

Daddy: It's a Chinese restaurant.

Buddy: Oh. 'Cept how come we never eatten there?

How cute is it that he thought they sold Pandas?

* * * * * * *

Princess Sparkley said something about what kind of car she was going to buy when she grew up. Buddy said, “I'm going to buy a UPS truck when I grow up.”

* * * * * * *

Buddy: “I'm going to be a train driver when I grow up. Or a mail man. I don't know yet.”

* * * * * * *

Buddy: “[Baby X] looks like a whole different boy today. Did he get a haircut?”

Mommy: “No.”

Buddy: “Then how come he looks like a whole different boy?”

Overhead bedtime conversations

There's a special needs girl from church that is spending a few afternoons with us this week, her name is Jarris. Today was her first day at our house. This is what I heard Princess Sparkley say to Buddy when they were in bed last night.

"It's not Jonah that's coming over tomorrow. Jonah lived liked 150 years ago. It's Jarris. Jonah was a prophet who was swallowed by a shark."

Blowing Raspberries

I was trying to capture those adorable lips he makes when he's blowing raspberries.

Wiggles

This is how I found Buddy Sunday morning when I went to wake him up at Grandma's house. He was on a sleeping bag and under a sleeping back in the room with Princess Sparkley. Notice in this picture that he's parallel to his pillow and his head is under the one sleeping bag. I almost didn't see him at all.

Blowing Raspberries

I love the sound of Baby X blowing raspberries. We'll just be driving along in the car and all of a sudden we hear him. Or he wakes up and we wake up hearing him blowing raspberries. It's just such a happy sound. Unfortunately, this was filmed with my digital camera too, so there is no sound to this footage. But you get to see his cute lips when they are making the sound.

Lazy River

We tried out Grandma M's city pool last summer and it's awesome. So we went again this weekend. It's huge, but last year it was so crowded. This year we went on the 5th of July, after dinner. They were staying open until ten the 4th and 5th but just about no one knew that so it was pretty empty.

Their favorite part is "Lazy River."
You just float around in these inner tubes, through a tunnel of mist and some squirty water.
Baby X even got in but I didn't get a picture. B and I traded boys so when Baby X was in with him I had to get wet and go around Lazy River with Buddy.

Here are me and Baby X before we got in. Photo by me.

Buddy turns blue the easiest and quickest. So he's
always the first one out due to blue lips and shivering.

Princess Sparkley and B took turns being the wolf chasing the three little pigs. Again, this is with my digital camera so there's no sound. Personally, it sort of reminds me of the old movie projector films my parents used to play for us from the late Seventies to early Eighties, the poor quality of the film, no sound, etc.

Princess Sparkley's New Look

Baby X does this new thing where he sort of hangs out on his side, I tried to capture it in some of these pictures. Princess Sparkley also made him her "baby" in her doll stroller. And Buddy's gigantic car city. Plus a Magic 8 Ball water tower in Tipton, MO.

4th of July
Neighborhood parade at Grandma's.
Fireworks from the mall parking lot.

Blastball Medals

Blastball ended and the kids each got a medal. It's a bronze
