Theodore Roosevelt Island

On November 21, B, the kids and I took the Metro from Arlington, VA to the Rosslyn stop and walked to Theodore Roosevelt Island. It may be the first time I've walked from one state (or Commonwealth) into another (or the District) other than a college road trip where we got out of the car driving back into Utah from Colorado and took our picture with the Welcome to Utah sign. But how true are the Welcome signs to true state lines??

In the middle of this island forest is an enormous statue of Theodore Roosevelt surrounded by huge tablets with his quotes and philosophies.

Baby X's middle name is Theodore. Mainly, he was named after my maternal grandpa,
but B also has some great uncles named Theodore that are well-loved,
so we thought it would be a nice family name for him.

My grandpa, born in 1901, was named after Theodore Roosevelt, so in a round about way,
so was Baby X. So we wanted to get some good pictures of him with this statue.


Doesn't he look like he's raising his hand like the statue?? Really, it's an airplane
taking off from the Ronald Reagan Airport. If only I'd gotten the entire statue in this shot.


PS and Buddy wanted a chance at being placed on a statue 6 feet in the air.




And conveniently, Baby X was wearing his "In Theo We Trust" shirt
from the 2004 Boston Red Sox World series referencing Theo Epstein.
