Buddy

Buddy's Grumpy Face.
This face cracks Baby X up (if he's in the right mood). Usually it's just Buddy's grumpy face.

This would get Buddy arrested (or probably just ticketed) in California.

Three Silly Gooses

I enlisted Buddy and Princess Sparkley to help with the Baby X/Alligator picture this morning since Baby X only lays on his back and stays still for about .0001 seconds. (Diaper changes are a disaster/circus show). Here's what followed the 34 week picture.

This is classic Buddy/Baby X. I don't know why, but Buddy is obsessed with Baby X's arms. When he sees him, when he hugs him goodnight, whenever, he grabs his arm and squeezes it. It's cute, but also a little worrisome as Baby X relies on his arms more and more now as he's crawling and holding himself up on stairs, tables, etc. I had to explain to Buddy that he can't just grab his arm when Baby X is using that arm.

Troublemaker

*

Baby X is by far my most active baby (at this age). He crawls all over. And once we figured out crawling, and ended up at a table or a step, he was pulling himself to standing. Now he thinks he's pretty cool and tries to let go or hold on with just one hand. Ahhhh!

I took him to his regular pediatrician this week because I was worried about how busy he is. He'll crawl all over playing with each thing in the room and work up a sweat and he'll be breathing hard. I didn't remember my other kids ever being this way, so I took him in to have him checked out to make sure his heart is working the way it is supposed to be working. He's fine. His doctor listened to it, they put this little monitor on his foot and toe to monitor the oxygen in his blood (he was hooked up to one of these the whole time he was at Children's Mercy), etc. His doctor just says he's very active and his body is doing what he's supposed to. He's not training for a race so when he gets tired, he won't keep pushing himself to go, he'll just stop and rest. She said if he was breathing hard at rest or asleep, or if his lips or anything turned blue, that's when we would worry. So, I guess he's just giving his heart a good cardio workout.

He weighed in at 19 lbs. 7 oz., a little over a week shy of his 8 month birthday.

*Mom, or anyone, if you want to copy and save any of these pictures I put in the grid collage to have prints made , let me know and I can send you the picture in an email or post if separately. It's just much easier to upload a bunch of pictures like this than to do it individually.

Flippy Pumpkin

Sorry this is such poor quality. It's my digital camera, so no sound. And it's not well lit. I wanted to show that Baby X still flips everything like he does his binky... and this light up pumpkin ring. Which he also keeps finding and putting in his mouth.

A Princess Pose

Into EVERYTHING

Baby X progressed very quickly from crawling to pulling himself to standing. Now there is no safe zone. He's into everything. And everything goes right into his mouth.

Binky?

This is what Baby X thinks of the binkys the hospital gives out.

Election

This has about won me over. Princess Sparkley watched part of McCain's speech and said, "I don't know why, but I want to vote for the old guy. Plus PS is obsessed with Sarah Palin because she's a woman, and because of this video. She even made me post it on her blog, so check it out there and comment. PS LOVES comments.

Tooth Fairy

One tooth fell out yesterday... at some point. We don't know when or where. I'm guessing she swallowed it. But the last time she remembers wiggling is was a church, hours and hours before she realized it was missing.

Since there was no tooth to leave under her pillow, she wrote a note to explain.

The "tooth fairy" sneaking into her room.

This is the same wig B is wearing in one of the first
pictures I have of us together
... sort of together.

The tooth fairy.
He had to scavenge the house for money to leave under PS's pillow.

Atchison Rail Museum

B heard about this somewhere, and we planned on doing it last week on Labor Day but they were closed. So we made the trip to Atchison (about an hour away) to the Atchison Rail Museum today. For Buddy, who loves trains. For Baby X, who has gotten a new county every month he's been alive. And for B, who doesn't want that streak to end.

The museum is free. It's adjacent to the Chamber of Commerce which has a different museum in it. It's free, with boxes for donations all over to help with up keep.

Mainly the rail museum is a parked train yard. Some of the cars are open and you can walk around in them. Some are filled with train museumy stuff... but it's dark and dusty and filled with spider webs.

Buddy's favorite part may have been that we were next to a
working rail line and trains kept going past, right next to us.

Flatbed cargo.

This made the whole trip worthwhile for me. We got to ride in this cute little train. I barely fit, I'm amazed that B folded his legs into his little seat. Buddy and Princess Sparkley loved it. Baby X seemed to enjoy it. I think it was a bit too long of a ride for B and his long legs.

Here they are with the train.

Buddy was proud of himself because he could identify all of the Sante Fe trains based on his tremondous knowledge base of all things trains learned from I Love Toy Trains DVDs.

Buddy requested this picture, with this pose, from this angle.

Boys in the Tub

Normally I don't fill the tub this much for just Baby X, but now that he's mobile, I needed something to do with him while I washed Buddy's hair. So into the tub he went.

Mostly he just tried to pick up bubbles and eat them.

Then he was about to float away.

Two boys all bubbly.

Attempts at family pictures

Moving

Baby X is a mover. He crawls, he climbs and he stands. Yikes.
And he looks like such a little boy in jeans and overalls. I love it!!

Here he is trying to crawl of Daddy.

Our gate only fits if we put it one step up. This is his new favorite place (and we have to use the gate because all of a sudden the other day, after ignoring the stairs for weeks, we found him three steps up). He crawls over here, stands up and gets stuck. Cries. We save him. Then he crawls over again and repeats this over and over and over again. I love this profile shot of him because you can see how happy he is with himself.

Big boy.

So proud of himself.

Cute!

Silly smile.

Isn't he adorable? It's possible that he loves the camera (trying to get it
to chew on, not for taking of pictures) more than that bottom step.

Big eyes.

Cute smiles.

Again with the step. Notice his cute new shoes from Old Navy. And his tiny little jeans.

And again, a different day. I tell you, he loves it here.
