Fieldtrip: Fire Station

This year we went to an older fire station downtown that still had the poles for the firemen to slide down from their sleeping area.

The kids being cute

Art Lesson

This is one of Princess Sparkley's art projects that is huge and she won't let us throw away. Even with this picture. She says I have to film her with it with the movie camera first. It's a carousel and she had to use different types of lines and patterns to decorate it.

Baby X this week

Swim Lessons

Here are the kids "diving" for treasures. My kids hate putting their face in the water. I can't blame them, I don't enjoy it either. So here they are with their swim teacher trying to reach into the water to get the "treasure" trying as hard as they can not to put their faces in. Actually, Princess Sparkley is pretty sure her face is in. And on the way out at the end of lessons, two days in a row now, Buddy has put his face in when no one's supposed to be looking. Crazy kid.

The last two are Buddy and his teacher being the alligator. The kids yell out, "What time is it Mr. Alligator?" The "alligator" answers a number. And the kids take that many steps forward. Eventually the "alligator" yells, "LUNCHTIME." And the kids have to "swim" back to the wall. Buddy loves this. He would quietly whisper a number for the teacher to say. The last picture is him "chasing" the kids. Which he did in incredibly slow motion.

Dollar Night at the Pool

We took the kids for dollar night at the pool last week to hopefully warm them up for a better week of swim lessons. Some of our friends from church were there so the kids had lots of fun.

Buddy is always freezing. They are both tall and skinny
but he gets cold and blue lipped so much more quickly than P.S.

Blastball

Buddy loves baseball, so I signed him up for something called Blastball. He didn't want to do it without Princess Sparkley, so I signed them both up. And Dad. They are both a little timid, but warming up.

Princess Sparkley is in the greenish/blue, 2nd from left.
Buddy is the Boston player to the right of her.
There is one other girl whom Princess Sparkley has befriended and about 10-12 other little boys.

Buddy running to the only base... it honks when you land on it.

Fielding. They complain because they never get the ball. It just ends up where ever the batter hits it and all 10 or so kids in outfield run after it like a little herd, my kids are just less aggressive in the chase.

Princess Sparkley Graduates

We are officially done with Kindergarten. Hooray!

Baby X because he's so darn cute

Swim Lessons

Princess Sparkley failed level one swim lessons last year due to failure to put her face in the water. So this year it's all old stuff and she's not scared. She's doing great. She's still pretty timid about getting her face/head wet, but she's trying.

Buddy is a different story. Not only is he terrified of "swimming," he's also terrified of his teachers talking to him or touching him, etc. He has fun playing the little games, but just sits on the wall and shakes his head no about everything else... you know, the important part where they teach you to swim.

Me and Porkchop watching swim lessons because Porkchop is a "water doggy" (term and animal invented by Buddy ages ago). and will encourage Buddy to be brave.

Embroidery

At some point last week Princess Sparkley heard me say the word embroidery. As a result, she's called these chalk drawings her embroidery.

Baby X squeals and screeches

New possible nickname for Baby X: Baby Teradactyl.

He just started doing this last night, maybe half an hour before we filmed this. It's super cute and funny now though I'm sure that in no time at all it'll become one of the most annoying things he does. Sorry for the bounceyness of the video. Every time we turned the web cam on, he'd stop squealing to look at the light. So we had to catch him off guard, just kicking and bouncing.

Baby Turtle

There was a severe thunderstorm warning, chance for quarter-size to baseball-size hail, thunder, lightening, and flooding. I'm wondering if the flooding is how this little guy ended up on the sidewalk in front of our house.

(*note Princess Sparkley's adorable crooked pinky)

Notice how brave Princess Sparkley is being.

Buddy barely touched it, but did want his picture taken with it.

I didn't touch it at all. B carried it back to the creek where hopefully it'll be okay.

This is how close we are to our little creek. You can't see it anymore now that all the trees have leaves. But that red door is ours, and the tree line to the right is the slope down to the little creek.
